Lucinda Rose Thoms is 2 years old (or as Lucy will tell you, she is 2,3,4) We have had a super fun month celebrating birthdays. Lucy’s birthday weekend was busy. Saturday saw us having french toast at Sweet & Savory followed by a trip to the beach with her new wagon. After a lot of swimming, castle building and finding crabs we packed up our gear despite protests from the teeth-chattering Lucy wanting ‘more beach’. We did some gardening, made cakes and pavlova (with much spoon licking) and then headed up to church for a dinner. Sunday morning Lucy woke up to a streamer decorated house. We had breakfast and opened presents before church. After a quick lunch and a long sleep, lots of friends turned up for a backyard pool party. How awesome is it to have a summer birthday party – we are making the most of it for Lucy whilst we are living in the US.

The weather reports predicted thunderstorms all day Sunday. Thankfully these occurred in the wee hours of the morning and by 3pm it hit 85F degrees (30C). All the kids turned up in their bathing suits (cossies) and had a great time in Lucy’s new frog pool. It was like a carnival! There were toys everywhere, plenty of food and lots of fun going on. Andrew served up strawberry ice cream to both the kids and adults and we drank wine and enjoyed the summer afternoon. Lucy spent most of her time running between the food table and whatever else was going on. She would have been happy with just a huge bowl of blackberries and strawberries as she spent most of her time eating. Lucy says a big hi to Gabriel, Julian, Caleb, Rachel, Aidan, Rory, Ava, Samantha, Baxter and Abigail. I have put her birthday photos onto the Kodak gallery – email me if you want a link.

Lucy knows most of her alphabet letters and most of her numbers (she skips 5 just like Maisie!) She is a bundle of energy and likes to touch and experience everything. She is loud, she is boisterous and she is happy. But I think the word that sums her up best is effervescent. We are so happy to have her in our family. We love you Lucy Lu!

Here is a quick recap in photos of the past 24 months.
